‘Twas an unusually warm August of 2017 when the two lovebirds were brought together by the fates themselves. The University of Dayton is our scene, Founders Hall specifically. Separated by just two measly floors, little did Katherine and Karl know what was in store for them. That very first weekend that both our characters arrived at the UD to study education, they stumbled into one another outside of Katherine’s dorm room due to the quick thinking and actions of new friend, Timothy, who was looking for more friendly faces as well. From there, the friendship began. What ensued for the next year and a half was a combination of those things friends do: long walks to class at Fitz Hall, shorter walks to get food and snacks from Marycrest and Empo, a variety of other length of walks throughout Dayton’s beautiful campus and student neighborhood, having conversations that lasted into the wee hours of the morning, making fun of one another just as schoolchildren with crushes, giving, taking and ignoring each other’s advice, going on trips with groups of friends, growing these groups of friends together, and most of all, forming the foundation of what would become the reason you’re reading this now (love).By early spring of 2019, all signs pointed to Katherine and Karl expanding their friendship and diving into the romantic side of life. Their friends knew it was about that time and started pestering. Finally, thanks to some liquid courage during the second St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Karl kissed Katherine for the first time. Very soon after, they had their first date at the most romantic of Dayton landmarks, the Woodland Cemetery, to hang with the late Wilbur and Orville Wright (thanks for the planes fellas). What came next was a series of “I told you sos” from friends and pals alike as the now couple began dating.Throughout the rest of their time at Dayton, Katherine and Karl experienced the good times and bad times that came with a global pandemic and lockdowns that almost stranded them in Florida. They experienced their first taste of long distance and what an awful taste that was. They forged even stronger bonds with their closest “10” friends. And as the world thawed out of these unprecedented times, they began to make plans for life in the “real world.” While the decision to leave Michigan was tough for Karl, they ultimately made the right one by moving to Katherine’s hometown of St. Louis.St. Louis was the beginning of their professional lives as Katherine and Karl started their teaching careers. They moved in to a tilted apartment in Tower Grove, and this was home base for braving the weathers of the first 4 years of teaching the youth. There were many ups and downs, but Karl and Katherine relied on each other and built up a strong group of friends and family as extra support. Speaking of support, Tower Grove is also where Katherine surprised Karl for his 23rd birthday with lovely Mr. Ronald, a needy gray tabby who likes to yap even more than Katherine herself. Ron and Karl and Katherine shared many adventures together in Tower Grove before Ron eventually gained an orange friend in Ginny a couple years later.Tower Grove Park was the scene for the next major milestone for our beloved couple. With much disguising and subterfuge and help from essential friends Abby and Ellie, Karl planned his proposal underneath the willow tree at the fountain in the park. Katherine was astonished, stunned, even flabbergasted that Karl could pull off the feat of planning an engagement party with all their friends and family. That was June 8th, 2024, and the last two years have been full of preparing for the true big day. In May of 2025, Katherine and Karl made another big step forward and moved into a house in Shrewsbury, Missouri. Here they have enjoyed all the joys of homeownership together while in their 5th year of teaching.Katherine and Karl have been looking forward to celebrating with you all for quite some time and can't believe that the day is finally almost here! Dress Code

Follow the website link to book a room in our hotel block. 5/11/26 is the last day guests are able to receive the discounted rate. After this day, any rooms not reserved will be released back to our general inventory. Breakfast is available from 7 am – 11 am. Menus can be found in each guest room and online at Twisted Trees website, for Wakey-Wakey.

Holiday Inn Route 66

There will be 2 shuttle buses picking guests up from the Holiday Inn and dropping them off at Haue Valley for the ceremony and reception. Guests will also be able to take the shuttles back at the end of the reception to either the hotel or after party at Helen Fitzgerald’s. Pick up time at Holiday Inn: TBDDeparture time from Haue Valley: TBD If guests choose to drive to Haue Valley, we ask that their cars are not left overnight at the venue. We will be charged a fee for every car. Thank you!

Go see the "Gateway to the West" for yourself! If you're feeling brave, you can take a ride to the top and see amazing views of the city, or admire it from the security of the ground.

Beautiful St. Louis park, designed by the same guy who designed Central Park in New York City! Inside the park you can find the art museum, zoo and history museum (all of which are FREE)!

Forest Park

The infamous Anheuser Busch brewery is a must see STL attraction.
